Kane wants out

The bombshell news which Spurs fans across the globe were no doubt long dreading was of course finally forthcoming early this week.

This came in the form of widespread reports that star hitman Harry Kane had informed the club of his desire to move on in the summer, in search of silverware.

The revelation, originally brought to the fore by Sky Sports News, has since been picked up on by a host of sources across the English media, amid the seemingly widespread understanding that Kane is indeed eyeing a new adventure.

#THFC are now making enquiries about replacement centre-forwards, in the first indication that the club are willing to consider the feelings of their 27-year-old talisman.

This of course comes just weeks after the gifted attacker sent tongues wagging, in opening up on his desire to secure ‘team prizes’ over the coming years of his career.

After being named the Premier League Player of the Year at the London Football Awards, Kane explained:

‘When I look back at the end of my career, these are all the things I’ll go over and take in a little bit more, but the goal right now as a player is to win team trophies.’

‘As much as this is great, I want to be winning the biggest team prizes. We’re not quite doing that. It’s bittersweet, but it is what it is.’

‘A good honest conversation’

In turn, a host of clubs have inevitably quickly been tipped to swoop for Kane, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City all thought to be keen.

It is the latter, though, whom the Englishman himself is said to be desperate to link up with, in an attempt to bring an end to his long-standing wait for silverware.

And, as outlined above, if the latest comments attributed to Kane on Thursday are anything to go by, it appears that the 27-year-old is ready to do whatever it takes to secure his dream transfer.

Speaking in a highly-anticipated interview with Gary Neville as part of The Overlap Podcast (which was actually recorded prior to Monday’s news surfacing), Spurs’ talisman all but confirmed his desire to move on, ahead of a showdown meeting with Daniel Levy:

‘As players, you don’t know what the chairman’s thinking. I mean he might want to sell me. He might be thinking: ‘If I can get £100m for you, then why not?’ You know what I mean. I’m not going to be worth that for the next two or three years.’

‘I hope … I mean, we have a good enough relationship. I’ve given the club – well, I’ve been there 16 years of my life. So I hope we can have a good honest conversation and see where we’re at in that aspect.’

From here, Kane reiterated his intention to compete on football’s grandest stages, before, significantly, assuring that the ultimate decision regarding his future will not come down to Lilywhites chairman Levy, but rather he himself:

‘I think it’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club. I want to be playing in the biggest games, the biggest moments. This season I’m watching the Champions League, the English teams in there doing amazing, and they are the games I want to be involved in.’

‘So for sure it’s a moment in my career where I have to reflect and see where I’m at and have a good honest conversation with the chairman. I hope we can have that conversation. I’m sure he’ll want to set out the plan of where he sees it. But ultimately it’s going to be down to me and how I feel and what’s going to be the best for me in my career at this moment in time.’
