Smith-Rowe’s Arsenal rise
Emile Smith Rowe has had a transformative affect on Arsenal’s side.
Coming into the starting XI with the club just above the relegation zone in December, he made an immediate impact, helping Arsenal to a 3-1 win over Chelsea.
He continued to impress in the second half of the season, ending the season with 20 Premier League appearances, and his good form was rewarded with a call up to England’s under-21 side.
Aston Villa have offer rejected
There is more than a little uncertainty surrounding Smith Rowe’s future at present. Arsenal view him as a key part of their rebuild after finishing a disappointing eighth place in 2020/21 and would very much like to keep him.
However, the man affectionately known as “the Croydon De Bruyne” is out of contract in 2023, meaning that Arsenal need to act quickly to tie down his long term future.
According to David Ornstein, Arsenal correspondent at the Athletic, Aston Villa have tried to test Arsenal’s resolve with a 25 million pound bid for their youngster. Villa, who have already signed creative maestro Emiliano Buendia for 35 million pounds (according to transfermarkt).
With Jack Grealish seemingly a target for Manchester City this summer, it appears as though the Villains are looking to bolster their creative options before they let go of their talisman.

However, as Ornstein reveals, Arsenal have no interest in selling their youth product, whilst Fabrizio Romano reports that Smith Rowe is on the verge of extending his Arsenal deal.

In the meantime, Willian is expected to leave Arsenal this summer as Xhaka and Guendouzi. https://t.co/0oLWSdBGFP

Aston Villa many therefore have to turn their attentions elsewhere in aim to replace Grealish’s creativity should he leave.
