Arsenal targeting Brandt
Arsenal will be searching for an attacking midfielder this summer transfer window with the likelihood that the on-loan Martin Odegaard will stay on a permanent deal extremely low.
Real Madrid are supposedly not keen to allow the Norwegian international to leave and even described the player as ‘fundamental‘ to the future.
Therefore the Gunners will need to target someone else and to provide support and competition for Emile Smith-Rowe.

German outlet BILD claim that Arsenal are working on a £17.5 million deal for Borussia Dortmund’s attacking midfielder Julian Brandt.
Brandt joined Dortmund from Bayer Leverkusen but has been unable to nail down a consistent starting spot in the team and could be allowed to leave the club this summer.
At just 24, he would represent a player with considerable sell-on value and an asset with much more development to achieve.
Is Brandt right?
But there is a serious question to ask whether or not Brandt is the right player for Arsenal?
Arsenal have historically shopped in the continental market instead of looking within the league for players reaching or in their prime.
Brandt would be another example of a target who would need to transition and acclimatize to the Premier League.
Insight on Brandt from German football expert Andrew Thompson explains why as the out and out number 10 Arsenal want, Brandt may not be that.
His technical ability & creative prowess, along with a ruthlessly efficient left foot, would seemingly be ideal to fit the mould for Mikel Arteta’s left-sided central option in an assumed midfield-three for the Basque headmaster.
If Arteta has plans to change the midfield system then Brandt may work, but otherwise it could be another case of a square peg and a round hole.
Arsenal need to radically change the way they recruit this summer and find players that would progress the side and help them compete with those above them.
Whether Brandt is that player is hard to say and that in itself may be enough to convince many he is far from the ideal target.
