An Odegaard alternative:
It’s never a quiet day on Arsenal twitter.
Following their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening, it was reported that the club are stepping up their interest in Norwich star Emi Buendia. With doubts over the long-term future of Martin Odegaard, currently on loan from Real Madrid, the Argentine has long been touted as an alternative to the 22-year-old.
Arsenal’s interest in Emi Buendia is growing as they look at alternatives to Martin Odegaard – No bid made yet, but Edu focusing on the Argentine.

Arsenal Twitter into overdrive:
The results of this tweet were immediate, with Arsenal supporters across social media reacting to the news
Just like last summer and in January, I would still be very happy if we signed Buendia. He’s always impressed me and has a profile we could definitely use in this team. https://t.co/cw8vcD7LLF

Emi Buendia at the Emirates next season? YES PLEASE!

Indeed, Arsenal account Chris Davison claimed that the Argentine could be available for as little as 35 million pounds this summer, a statement for which he received quite a bit of subsequent backlash
#AFC | Reports suggesting Norwich are demanding £60m for Emi Buendia are wide of the mark, I understand.
£35m – £40m should get the job done.
— Chris Davison (@cdavison_afc) May 20, 2021
One of those that particularly enjoyed Davison’s tweet was ex-Norwich and Manchester City player Darren Huckerby. Two-time player of the year for the Canaries, the Englishman pointed out that Arsenal paid 72 million pounds for Nicolas Pepe, and joked that the club would be lucky to sign him, now 45, for £35 million.
You couldn’t get me for £35m ! ? you paid £70m+ for Pepe! ? #Ncfc #Afc https://t.co/36pZwZ35rr

Davison fired back, however, saying that the fees were passed down to him by “a well-respected Norwich correspondent”, and that it was not something that he had plucked from thin air.
I have received a bit of stick for this tweet.
The two fees I mentioned at the bottom come directly from a well respected Norwich Correspondent.
I am literally just passing on what I’ve been told.

Emi Buendia has come off of a brilliant season in the Championship, firing in 15 goals and providing a further 17 assists in his 39 appearances for the East Anglian club to help them return to the top flight at the first time of asking.
He would certainly be a valuable addition to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad, and could prove to be a bargain if the quoted fee is to be believed.
