England vs Germany
Euro 2020 returned to our screens once again on Tuesday evening.
The first tie of the day pitted England against old foe, Germany.
The Three Lions have a horrid record in the knockout rounds of major tournaments vs the Germans, not beating them since all the way back in 1966.
However, England have perhaps their strongest squad for several years now, whilst Germany have been pretty inconsistent over the last few seasons.
As a result, hopes were no doubt high from the England camp ahead of kick-off at Wembley.
The tie started off in fairly cagey fashion, with Germany’s midfield dominating and England struggling to get out of the back in the open 15 minutes.
However, after pushing their wing-backs further up the pitch, Gareth Southgate’s side began to grow into the match and carved out the best chance of the game at that point when Raheem Sterling cut inside and curled an effort at Manuel Neuer’s goal, who saved well:

Kai Havertz then played in Chelsea teammate Timo Werner, who forced a good stop out of Jordan Pickford.
But neither side was able to break the deadlock before half-time.
Saka joins exclusive England club
One of England’s brightest players during the first 45 would be Bukayo Saka.
The winger impressed during England’s final group stage clash vs the Czech Republic, doing enough to earn another start vs Germany.
Now, as revealed by Opta, Saka’s start vs Germany saw him join Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen as the only teenagers to start a knockout game at a major tournament for England:
