Football takes a back seat
The name of midfielder Eriksen has of course taken centre stage in the world of football over the last hour.
This comes after a frankly harrowing scene came to pass during the Euro 2020 meeting between Denmark and Finland.
Late in the first-half of action, the ball landed at the aforementioned Eriksen’s feet. The 29-year-old, however, struggled in his attempts to control, before subsequently collapsing to the Parken Stadium turf.
Players from both sides quickly called for medical attention, as the serious nature of the incident became clear.
In turn, those on duty in Copenhagen rushed to Eriksen’s side, to begin resuscitation efforts.
Denmark’s stars, meanwhile, formed a barrier around their fallen star, as their Finnish counterparts made their way from the pitch.
It therefore came as little surprise when the fixture was eventually postponed by UEFA a short time later:
The UEFA EURO 2020 match in Copenhagen has been suspended due to a medical emergency.

Eriksen ‘awake’
News on Eriksen’s wellbeing, from here, was not forthcoming for some time, as fans, players and all watching on from home awaited an update with bated breath.
As outlined above, though, such word has since been forthcoming.
And, thankfully, it has proven of a positive nature.
First, UEFA confirmed that Eriksen, after being transferred to hospital, had been ‘stabilised’:
Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET.
The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised.

This has since been followed by the Danish Football Association confirming that their midfield star is ‘awake and set for further examinations at Rigshospitalet’:
Christian Eriksen er vågen og er til yderligere undersøgelser på Rigshospitalet.
Kampen er midlertidigt udsat. Ny melding kommer kl. 19.45.
