Man United vs Villarreal
The 2021 Europa League final is set to play out on Wednesday the 26th of May.
Manchester and Villarreal will battle it out in this season’s showpiece at the Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk in Poland.
After finishing 7th in La Liga this season, Villarreal’s only way into the Champions League next season is by winning the Europa League.
And the Spaniards will no doubt fancy their chances of doing so with Europa League specialist, Unai Emery, at the helm.
Emery has won the competition three times and also guided Arsenal to the final in 2019.
Man United, meanwhile, really need to clinch this trophy to show that some progress has in fact been made under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norwegian did mange to finish second with United in the league this season.
But his points total of 74 is still behind the 81 Jose Mourinho managed back in 2017/18, which remains United’s highest points total since Sir Alex Ferguson left.
Solskjaer is also yet to win any silverware after two- and a-bit seasons as manager, whereas Mourinho and Louis van Gaal were able to do so in less or similar time in the job.
Harry Maguire update
Ahead of what is a huge game for Solskjaer and United, he, along with Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes, spoke to the press on Tuesday.
During the presser, Harry Maguire was of course asked about.
The United skipper was injured vs Aston Villa on May 9th and has been sidelined ever since.
Man United’s backline has looked less than stellar since, with Man United fans no doubt concerned about going into a final without their only really competent centre-back.
When asked about Maguire on Tuesday, though, Solskjaer said he was probably just going to jog up and down the sidelines in training – suggesting that he is not going to be fit to start a final in just over 24 hours:
OGS says he expects Harry Maguire to “just going to jog and down the side” at training shortly.

Since that update an image has emerged of Maguire watching training from the dugout:
