Jesse Lingard’s future at Manchester United could potentially hinge on the club’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho.

Lingard impresses with West Ham
Jesse Lingard enjoyed something of a career revival in the second half of 2020/21.
The 28-year-old majorly struggled for any sort of regular action with Manchester United over the first half of the 2020/21 campaign.
He notched just three appearances for the Red Devils, all of which came in cup competitions.
As a result, it didn’t come as too much of a surprise when United allowed Lingard to depart Old Trafford on loan during the winter window.
What did prove surprising, though, was just how impressive the midfielder looked with West Ham.
In 16 league outings for David Moyes’ outfit, Lingard notched nine goals and five assists, playing a key role in the Hammers securing a Europa League berth for the 2021/22 season.
Sancho deal could impact Lingard to West Ham
On the back of such an impressive loan stint, West Ham’s fans were no doubt hoping to see Lingard return next term on a permanent deal.
However, reports emerged earlier this month suggesting that Lingard would prefer to stay in Manchester.
That stance could still seemingly change this summer, however.
Man United have been once again heavily linked with Jadon Sancho, with it claimed earlier in the week that they had increased their offer for Borussia Dortmund to £72.6m.
Should Sancho arrive, that would add more competition to Lingard at United and it is hard to see him starting on a regular basis ahead of Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes.
Could this persuade Lingard to reconsider his United future?
The Evening Standard seem to think so, reporting that Lingard moving could hinge on the Sancho signing.
They explain that
Manchester United signing Jadon Sancho could change his position and West Ham do not expect any deal to be done over Lingard until a move for the Borussia Dortmund winger has been completed.
