Ferdinand subject to racist abuse
Rio Ferdinand was subjected to racist abuse whilst working for BT Sport at Wolves stadium Molineux . He tweeted what happened and said he would want to meet the person who did it.
The last couple weeks, it’s been unreal to see fans back. However
To the Wolves fan who has just been thrown out for doing a monkey chant at me. You need to be dismissed from football & educated. Come meet me & I will help you understand what it feels like to be racially abused!

Ferdinand then revealed to viewers what had happened.
“I’d love to meet up with the fella and just educate him a little bit. Punishing people without education isn’t the way forward,” said Ferdinand.

Wolves have since apologised and reiterated their stance against racism. They are aiming to ensure the fan is banned for life.
We are deeply sorry Rio. This person does not represent our club, our supporters or our values.
We can confirm that this individual has been arrested by @WMPolice, who we will support to ensure that the strongest action is taken, including a lifetime ban from our club. https://t.co/O17p87QzZ0

Ferdinand, Terry incident
This comes just mere days after John Terry’s interview with Henry Winter of the Sunday Times caused Rio’s brother Anton, who was found by the FA to have been racially abused by the former Chelsea defender, to tweet calling for a conversation with Terry.
I never received a call personally from JT prior to the documentary or during the process. As I stated on the doc, the door is still open to have a conversation if he’s serious about racism in football & wanting to create positive change. Call me then JT? ?@henrywinter https://t.co/lKLF8LXc1k

Terry defended himself during the interview with Winter.
“No, I’m not,” he said when asked if he was racist. “Racism is unacceptable. It’s been ten years now, then to see the documentary and being made to look the bad guy in there . . . It’s done. There’s a line in the sand drawn.
“Do I regret what happened? Anton can have his opinion. You’ll have yours. My opinion is very clear, I was not guilty in the court of law which is the biggest form of our law in our country. No higher.”
He concluded the interview saying that whilst he understood Anton Ferdinand had gone through some tough times, he had suffered as well.
“Yes. Of course,” he answered when asked if he had any sympathy for Anton. “He’s had some tough times but I’ve also had some tough times.”
