Tottenham’s Manager hunt
Tottenham Hotspur have been without a permanent manager since the beginning of April, when they parted ways with serial winner Jose Mourinho.
Ex-player Ryan Mason took temporary charge until the end of the season, leading the Lilywhites to seventh place, a finish good enough for the UEFA Conference League, the third tier of European football.
Since the end of the 2020/21 campaign, Spurs have been on the hunt for a new head coach, finding it tricky to attract a high-profile option given their financial predicament and the increasingly likely prospect of starting next season without star player Harry Kane.
Former boss Mauricio Pochettino, currently at Paris Saint Germain, was thought to be the first choice for the job.

However, there has been no indication that the Argentinian is ready to leave PSG, meaning that Spurs had to look elsewhere.
Following this failure, the Lilywhites turned their attention to Antonio Conte, who left Inter Milan at the end of the season.
However, this also proved fruitless, with Fabrizio Romano citing “big difference” on salary, as well as a failure to be convinced of the project.

Following a second failure, Tottenham finally thought they had their man, with rumours suggesting that Paulo Fonseca, previously of Roma, was lined up to take the hot-seat.
Fonseca having second thoughts?
However, astonishing developments have since occurred. Romano once again cites finances (“fiscal problems”), although whether this surrounds salary or transfer budget is unclear.
Incredible Tottenham again. There are huge fiscal problems to complete the appointment of Fonseca as new manager despite verbal agreement completed and contract set to be signed, as reported on @SkySport @DiMarzio. ⚪️? #THFC
That’s why Fonseca has NOT signed yet with Spurs. ❌

According to the transfer journalist, there was a contract verbally agreed between the two parties, but clearly some of the finer details have become sticking points, with talks now reportedly having broken down.
Tottenham are NOT intentioned to cover the economic difference on fiscal side with Fonseca – he was set to sign after contract verbally agreed, it was done… but talks have now broken down. ❌⚪️ #THFC
Tottenham search now restarted. Jorge Mendes will try with Gattuso. @SkySport

This means that Tottenham may have to look for a fourth managerial candidate, which makes you wonder. Just what is going on in North London?
