Gilmour positive means Chilwell & Mount out
Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour returned a positive test for Covid-19 this week and therefore will be unavailable for Scotland’s final group match against Croatia.
Should they progress into the last 16 of the competition it is unlikely that the Chelsea youngster will play unless Scotland reach the later rounds.
We can confirm that Billy Gilmour has tested po sitive for COVID-19.
Having liaised with Public Health England, Billy will now self-isolate for 10 days and therefore miss tomorrow’s UEFA EURO 2020 Group D match against Croatia at Hampden.https://t.co/lRNWvckqCK

This has been unfortunate for Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell who have both been deemed to have been in close contact with Gilmour and shall therefore isolate
Mount and Chilwell must isolate up to and including 28 June.
The pair were confirmed overnight as close contacts of Gilmour.

No Scotland players, as of yet, have been reported to need to do the same.
New incentive to top the group
There is an irony that by finishing top of England’s group, the side will play a much tougher opponent with the runner-up of the group of death containing Hungary, France, Germany and Portugal.
Should England finish second they will go on to face the winner of Spain’s group. Currently topped by Sweden, with Slovakia in second and Poland bottom (the only side who cannot finish top on the final matchday of the groups).
However England have now been given an extra incentive to finish top with the news of Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount’s isolation.
The pair will need to stay in isolation until Monday and therefore should England finish second in the group will have the pair unavailable to them for their last 16 match.
Should England finish top of the group then by the time they play their last 16 game both players will be available for selection.
Another incentive for England to finish first. If they finish second, both are out of Monday’s last-16 game. If first, they’re available for Tuesday’s.

Gareth Southgate though said he didn’t know if the pair would be fit for Tuesday’s match.
“We don’t know at the moment,” he said at the time.
“There’s obviously got to be quite a doubt but there’s still a lot of discussions and investigations going on behind the scenes, so at the moment they’re isolating and we just have to find out over the next 12 hours or so.
“We had worked with the players this morning on the training pitch, so of course then you find out as you finish that this is the situation, so I can’t say it isn’t disruptive of course.”
