Southgate announces squad
Gareth Southgate has named his provisional squad ahead of the delayed Euro 2020 tournament next month.
Many big names missed out including James Maddison who helped Leicester to an FA Cup this summer.
Nick Pope is missed through injury after needing knee surgery.
There are a number of players such as Jordan Henderson and Kalvin Phillips who are fitness concerns.

Meanwhile, despite many reporting that Trent Alexander-Arnold was not expected to be included, he in fact has made the provisional squad.
Whether he gets cut later on remains to be seen and training will certainly be his best opportunity to prove his worth.
The questions as to who will get cut however, have already started.
Who the experts believe will get dropped
Southgate will have a huge job deciding who will be cut from the squad. The 33-man squad must be reduced to 26 after the training camp on June 1st which means that 7 players will miss out. Friendlies against Austria and Romania are set to take place on the 2nd & 6th June.
But who do the experts think won’t make it?
Daniel Storey believes that as many as 3 defenders will drop out and Arsenal’s star man.
About as expected: Ramsdale, Saka, White, Godfrey, Watkins, a right-back and Ward-Prowse the most likely to drop out, at a guess. https://t.co/ydZbYkExt2

The Mirror’s John Cross is already adamant that Ben White and Ben Godfrey will also miss out.
Clearly, Ben White and Ben Godfrey unlikely to make final 26. But if you’re a young player, surely it’s great experience in the next week or so. And indicates you are in manager’s mind further down the line.

CBS’ James Benge highlighted how AC Milan’s loaned centre-back from Chelsea missed out and whilst he’d keep Ben Godfrey, he fears he won’t be kept.
I like Fikayo Tomori but Ben Godfrey’s really good too. These are lovely dilemmas to have for what is a CB that might not even make the squad (I’d pick Godfrey but eh, there’s good options)

Who.Scored’s Martin Lawrence has his 7 ready to go.
Ramsdale, TAA, White, Godfrey, JWP, Saka, Watkins the ones cut I’d imagine. Unless injuries elsewhere

Many appear to be cutting Bukayo Saka, but The Athletic’s Art de Roche believes his versatility could see him through.
Bukayo Saka in the England squad as a forward
Rashford, Sancho, Grealish, Foden, Sterling & Greenwood all in and can fill those wide roles
Both Shaw & Chilwell in as left-backs too
May not be many minutes for Saka but that doesn’t have to be a negativehttps://t.co/iYCMjqVaHO
