The takeover failure
During the calls for the current Arsenal ownership KSE to leave the club, Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek threw his hat into the ring with a bid for the club with the backing of three club legends: Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira.
It was revealed by Ek to have been turned down but that he was still interested in purchasing the club.

Now, one of the three main backers of Ek, Dennis Bergkamp, has conducted an interview in which he explained that the saga was not over despite the KSE rejections.
“We can’t force anyone to sell. I understand that, in addition to that offer, Daniel has now reached out twice to Josh Kroenke and his bankers,” said Bergkamp to Dutch outlet VI.
“Whatever Kroenke’s intentions are, it would be good if we at least have a conversation with each other. In the interest of the club. Regardless, Daniel is not a quitter and neither are we football boys.
“We are here to stay. The crazy thing is that we cannot imagine how the current players feel. Because we have always played for the championship ourselves. We know how the fans feel.
“We have already had a meeting with a supporter delegation. We also sense more and more enthusiasm on their side. That is very stimulating.”
This empathy to the fans displayed by the Dutchman is likely only to further the support for Ek’s bid and to mount pressure on KSE>

Arsenal DNA
He went on to talk about his ambitions for the club that he describes himself as a fan of.
“The club is in my heart, I have become a fan of players. Just like Patrick and Thierry, I recognise the Arsenal from our own time less and less,” he said.
“The ambition to win top prizes is in Arsenal’s DNA. Never accepting to lose. That mentality has slowly disappeared.
“I sense resignation about the current situation. That is serious. As if, given the financial situation, it is normal for Arsenal to end mid-table. That does not belong to this club. Arsenal’s DNA must be restored”.
This term of ‘Arsenal DNA’ is a tricky one to nail down with many supporters views of what it means differing.
If it means restoring Arsenal to the club they were with the trio in the team, fans would be ecstatic to see the club challenging for titles again.
However, this would be a significant challenge even with serious investment to turn the club into a winning machine again.
