Umbro kicks off the 2021-2022 season by putting the goalkeepers in the spotlight with the release of 6 new tunics specially designed for the last ramparts of the Stade de Reims, the En Avant Guingamp and the Stade Malherbe de Caen.
With the release of this unique collection, the double diamond brand confirms its desire to develop its lifestyle universe from football. As we know, in recent years, sports entities no longer hesitate to link their discipline to fashion. Today, Umbro diverts the swimsuit from its main function linked to performance by shifting it into a lifestyle-oriented universe with the aim of creating truly unique fashion pieces that can be worn in everyday life.

The 90s at the heart of the collection
“These unique jerseys developed by the English equipment manufacturer once again testify to his creativity, his authenticity, and his unique heritage since they are directly inspired by Jorge Campos, the iconic Mexican goalkeeper dressed by Umbro in the 90s”, we learn in the press release of the British equipment manufacturer. At that time, the one nicknamed “El Brody” stood out for not only scoring goals but also for his eccentric style of dress due to his jerseys with original graphic designs composed of various abstract and multicolored shapes. Thirty years later, the brand with the double diamond has therefore decided to bring these jerseys up to date. There are 6 new goalkeeper jerseys with a collar and a “polo” type cut where the French tricolor flag stands out at the neckline.
Stade de Reims jerseys
Unicoloured, the Stade de Reims jerseys are synonymous with a relative sobriety specific to the values of the club. These tunics are directly inspired by a reinterpretation of Jorges Campos’ jersey, incorporating Aztec elements and references such as the sun surrounding the club logo and the lightning in connection with the personification of the god Tlaloc, a mythical being dressed with splendor and wearing a multicolored feather headdress.
The Stade Malherbe de Caen jersey
Sullivan Péan and Rémy Riou will wear a swimsuit featuring an original artistic gold print on a black background. These two colors fit together perfectly and have been in vogue in the football world for a few years since we have seen FC Barcelona wear a black and gold away shirt this season.
The jerseys of En Avant Guingamp
For his part, Forward Guingamp will see his goalkeeper wear three new royal blue-pink, green-yellow and yellow-black outfits. These flashy colors are combined with a structured geometric design of vertical stripes and regular polygons in gradient hues.
A new claim for Umbro
The release of these tunics also marks the occasion for Umbro to launch its new “claim” or slogan entitled “Our game makes everyone shine” which is specially dedicated to this collection which also aims to highlight the post of goalkeeper whose supporters often abandon the jerseys in favor of those of the field players. “A claim carrying a strong message, therefore, the aim of which is to show the consideration of the brand for the various players in the football field and more generally for all the people revolving around a sporting discipline”, can we read at the conclusion of the press release of the English brand. One thing is certain, Umbro will bring freshness to the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 pitches next season.
