An insight into Tottenham’s stance on re-approaching Paulo Fonseca has been forthcoming on Friday evening.

Ongoings on the white half of North London have of course taken centre stage in the media over the last 24 hours.
This comes amid the Lilywhites’ ongoing efforts to appoint a new manager ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Since the decision was made to dismiss Jose Mourinho back in April, a whole host of tacticians from across the continent have been tipped to take up the reins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
To this point, however, the efforts of Daniel Levy and co. have proven fruitless.
Earlier this week, it was viewed as a near certainty that Paulo Fonseca, fresh off the back of a disappointing campaign with AS Roma, was set to be installed on the bench in the English capital.
This, though, was only until Gennaro Gattuso, following a falling out with Fiorentina, became available.
In turn, those in a position of power at Spurs swiftly dropped Fonseca, to open discussions with Gattuso on Thursday afternoon:
Gennaro Gattuso now leading the never-ending race to join Tottenham. Talks progressing. ⚪️ #THFC @SkySport
He parted ways with Fiorentina after only 22 days because he wanted to sign some players from his agent Jorge Mendes to improve the team – but the club was not convinced.

Incredibly, however, such talks again came to nothing, as a sizable question mark continues to hang over the Lilywhites’ managerial situation.
‘100% off’
On the back of their eventual decision regarding Gattuso, meanwhile, speculation quickly began to spread regarding the possibility of Spurs simply turning their attentions back towards Fonseca.
An agreement is thought to have been essentially in place between the parties, meaning little work would have been required in thrashing out the final details of a contract.
If the latest word in the media on Friday is anything to go by, however, then such a route does not even appear to be under consideration on the part of the North Londoners.
As per the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have turned their attentions away from both Gattuso and Fonseca, with both deals now ‘100% off’:
Tottenham are not planning to re-consider Paulo Fonseca or Gennaro Gattuso as candidates in the next hours – both deals 100% off, same for Pochettino who’s considered “untouchable” by Paris Saint-Germain since May. ⚪️ #THFC
Board now back at work to find the right manager.
