Tottenham eyeing Antonio Conte amid speculation Italian could depart Inter

Tottenham’s managerial search

Tottenham are still yet to appoint a successor to Jose Mourinho, who was sacked by the club in April.

Thus far, a number of high-profile names have been linked with the Spurs bench.

Julian Nagelsmann was said to have been of interest to the north London outfit, but he is now set to take over at Bayern Munich in the summer.

Elsewhere, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers had too been tipped as a potential target, but he is believed to have confirmed that he is not interested in the job.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag was also revealed to be of interest to the Lilywhites, but he then penned a new contract extension with the Dutch club until 2023.

Elsewhere, Atalanta’s Gian Piero Gasperini was linked with the job, but he squashed those rumours pretty quickly:

Conte to Tottenham?

Now, on Wednesday, another big name is being linked with Spurs.

That man is Inter Milan’s Antonio Conte. Some may be quite surprised by this link, given that Conte has just guided Inter to their first Serie A title in 10 years.

However, reports stemming from Italy are touting a ‘divorce’ between Conte and Inter:

The reasoning for this is believed to be a desire from Inter to ‘downsize’ and put less money forward for the manager to spend, which Conte isn’t said to be pleased with.

And as Sport Witness report:

According to Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham ‘are crazy’ for the manager, with Spurs being repeatedly presented as especially keen by the Italian media.

Should Conte indeed leave the San Siro, Maurizio Sarri and Max Allegri are amongst the names touted as potential replacements:
