Tottenham are confident of sealing a move for Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, according to reports.

Tottenham need a new centre-back
Tottenham have, for some time, required reinforcements at centre-back.
Spurs’ previously dominant pairing of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld has now broken up, with the former having departed the club, and the latter now looking some way past his best.
Elsewhere, both Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez can be quite error-prone.
This just leaves Joe Rodon, whose lack of top-flight experience was laid bare on a number of occasions last term.
So, if Spurs hope to get back to finishing in the Premier League’s top-four on a regular basis again, they probably need to bring in some reinforcements at the back.
Tottenham eyeing Tomiyasu
Now, it appears the Lilywhites have identified at least one player who could help strengthen their defence.
That player, according to the Sun, is Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Tomiyasu would join current side Bologna in July of 2019 from Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden for a reported fee of around £8m.
Tomiyasu has since gone on to feature 63 times for the Serie A outfit, including 33 times during 2020/21, where he would score two goals.
The 22-year-old is also a regular feature in Japan’s national side, for who he has lined out 23 times.
And whilst he is a centre-back by trade, he is very comfortable being deployed at right-back as well.
And according to the Sun, Spurs are lining up a move for Tomiyasu ahead of their managerial appointment and are confident of getting the deal done.
Said deal is also expected to be fairly cheap, with a £15m fee floated by the Sun.
