Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has provided a number of noteworthy personnel updates on his squad, on the back of the Blues’ defeat to Arsenal.

Smith Rowe on target
Tuchel and co. were of course back in action on Wednesday night.
The Pensioners welcomed London rivals Arsenal to Stamford Bridge, for a Premier League showdown.
Chelsea headed into proceedings aiming to keep alive a fine recent spell of form, which had seen them inch ever closer to securing a top-4 berth on the back of an impressive win over Manchester City.
When all was said and done in west London, however, the hosts were brought back down to earth with a thud.
A disjointed display, during which Arsenal, for the most part, held their capital rivals at bay, eventually saw Mikel Arteta’s visitors emerge on the right side of a 1-0 scoreline.
Emile Smith Rowe bagged the only goal of the clash with a quarter of an hour on the clock, after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang capitalised on a Jorginho error to tee up the midfielder’s 2nd in two games:

Kante concern
Chelsea’s surprise defeat on Wednesday means that the Blues remain 4th in the Premier League table, in the knowledge that West Ham could close the gap to just three points with a victory in their game in hand.
In turn, speaking in the aftermath of a rare defeat since his arrival in England, Thomas Tuchel sounded understandably disappointed:
‘We all lacked the right energy and focus, so we didn’t deserve it. And maybe I gave some signals to the team with changes that Saturday is on my mind.’
‘Even if it’s one per cent or five per cent, this is not how we approach things because you get punished. It’s hard to swallow, hard to accept, but there’s no other way.’
The Chelsea boss, though, did have the excuse of being without two members of his starting midfield on Wednesday.
Tuchel has confirmed that N’Golo Kante was unavailable for selection due to an ongoing problem with the Frenchman’s Achilles:
So Kante was left out by Tuchel for #CFC v #AFC due to injury after all. Speaking to the 5th Stand app, he said: “N’Golo (was left out) for pain management. He has pain in the achilles and he suffers from that. There was no chance (he could play) because we miss Kovacic (too).”

Elsewhere, meanwhile, it has been confirmed that midfield partner Kovacic, who has not taken to the pitch for over a month now, is ‘hoping‘ to return to the fray in time for this weekend’s FA Cup final.
