Tuchel ‘lucky’ claims hit home
Thomas Tuchel lost his second final for his second club in less than a year as Chelsea fell to Leicester City in the FA Cup.
The match was won by a fantastic strike from Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans who struck a ball into the top left hand corner leaving Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga helpless.
Chelsea’s coach did not earn many plaudits in his post-match interviews where he described his opposition as ‘lucky’ to win the match thanks to the world-class strike.
“We had enough chances, to decide this match for us. It was a fantastic strike but a lucky strike to decide the match.”

This comes just days after Arsenal won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge where the former Dortmund and PSG boss also described the Gunners as lucky.
Tuchel: “It is a totally lucky win & nobody can argue with that. It is not a deserved win, not at all for Arsenal. But I don’t want to go there 100 per cent because we all lacked concentration. Maybe I also gave some signals to the team with changes that Saturday is on my mind.”

Should certain circumstances come to bear however, when does luck become simply bad decision making?
Chelsea’s nightmare scenario
Because of the loss against Arsenal in midweek it has opened up an opportunity for Chelsea to finish the season in a nightmare scenario.
Just a week ago the club were looking strong in their top 4 Campaign and fighting for two titles.
To of course the club could still cap off the season with a brilliant Champions League victory but need to overcome the overriding odds against a Manchester City side that have claimed two more trophies this season.
Whilst Tuchel has beaten Guardiola twice already this season, the Spaniard’s record in final’s is something special.

Should Chelsea end up trophyless, they will hope to salvage something by qualifying for next year’s elite European competition.
However, should the weekend’s result repeat itself on Tuesday when Chelsea host Leicester in the league, they could be in serious trouble.
Should Liverpool win their game in hand against relegated West Brom today and then beat a Burnley side off the back of a 4-0 thrashing at home to Leeds, they would overtake the Blues into the top four.
Chelsea’s final game of the season is against Aston Villa who have enjoyed a stellar campaign themselves after surviving relegation last season.
Dropping out of the top 4 would then intensify pressure on the UCL final where a win would grant them qualification for next season. Repeating the scenario of 2012.
