The England faithful have flooded to social media this evening, to target a pair of individuals, on the back of their side’s disappointing showing versus Scotland.

Spoils shared
Friday’s marquee Euro 2020 fixture of course played out at Wembley a short time ago.
The meeting in question saw old foes reunite, as England played host to Scotland in a crucial Group D clash.
Gareth Southgate’s hosts, for obvious reasons, headed into proceedings as favourites, buoyed by an opening day victory over Croatia. Scotland, on the other hand, were aware that another defeat could see their European adventure all but ended, on the back of a 2-0 defeat to the Czech Republic.
When all was said and done in the English capital, though, the Tartan Army stood tall, to avoid a 2nd-straight loss.
A tense affair, during which both sides came within inches of bagging an all-important winner, eventually played out into a somewhat disappointing 0-0 stalemate.
John Stones came closest for England, nodding a towering header onto the post early on:

Scotland, meanwhile, saw the likes of Lyndon Dykes and Stephen O’Donnell go agonisingly close to securing the upset at Wembley.
Nevertheless, their point apiece means that England remain in 2nd place in Group D, whilst Scotland, despite sitting bottom, remain in with a shot of booking a spot in the Euros’ last-16.
Three Lions fume
On the back of the action coming to a close on Friday, though, it has since come as little surprise to see one set of fans considerably more aggrieved with the eventual result.
Many of an England persuasion revealed their expectation that a straightforward three points lay in store tonight, only to once again be let down by a frankly lacklustre display.
And despite the Three Lions, as a whole, having come up way short, the finger of blame, for the most part, has since been directed squarely at two individuals.
Those in question? Gareth Southgate and Harry Kane:
Still struggling to understand Gareth Southgate’s style of play… does anyone know what it is?🤔🏴

Never going to win anything with Southgate. Same situation at United with Ole

No chances all game and Sancho doesn’t get a chance again… to say that Southgate is clueless is an understatement pic.twitter.com/4I3vlBoMEO

Southgate could have picked 11 Championship players if he wanted to play like that.
At least we can stop pretending we are looking at the eventual winners!#ENGSCO #EURO2020

England dreadful. Ponderous, selection / system wrong, no idea what the tactics were. Passing sideways & backwards. Players overawed. Big worries over Sterling & Kane.

That was a shocking performance from Kane. No idea why he’s dropping so deep when there are two players already occupying the space between the lines, but he’s been so poor on this front today and in the game against Croatia.
