Scotland lose Gilmour
With a tournament taking place during a pandemic, it was always likely that players would test positive for the virus. Unfortunately Scotland have suffered a big loss with Chelsea prospect Billy Gilmour now out.
A statement on the Scottish FA website read:
The Scottish FA can confirm that a member of the Scotland National Team playing squad, Billy Gilmour, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Having liaised with Public Health England since the positive test was recorded, Billy will now self-isolate for 10 days and therefore miss tomorrow’s UEFA EURO 2020 Group D match against Croatia at Hampden.

Gilmour started in the 0-0 draw with England and despite his young age, did not look out of place in the XI.
Steve Clarke is well-stocked in the middle with John McGinn, Stuart Armstrong, Callum McGregor and Scott McTominay all available to play central midfield.
England players are said not to be affected by the positive test having all returned negative results.
In light of Billy Gilmour’s positive Covid-19 test, all England players and staff returned negative results after a round of testing on Sunday.

Clarke leaves 2 days for recovery
Clarke has left two whole days for recovery from the effort against England.
Confirming that little tactical work will be done on the pitch and instead sending the players into the classroom to study Croatia.
“We’ll have two days of complete recovery. There’s not much more we can do tactically on the pitch,” said Clarke.
“So there will be a little bit more work in the classroom, if you like. We’ll walk through the game on Tuesday and get our tactics tied down so we can produce another good performance.”
Should they manage to beat Luka Modric and co, they position themselves well to progress as one of the best 3rd placed sides in the competition.
