Cristiano Ronaldo remains the outright leader in the race for the Euro 2020 Golden Boot, despite Patrick Schick moving level with the Portuguese superstar when it comes to goals scored.

Dolberg strikes again
Schick was of course back in action a short time ago, as the Czech Republic faced off with Denmark, for a spot in the Euros’ semi-finals.
It was the latter who headed into proceedings as favourites to advance, having recovered from the frightening loss of captain Christian Eriksen early in the tournament to eventually book their spot in the last-8 courtesy of successive 4-goal hauls versus Russia and Wales.
The Czechs, though, too impressed last time out, in ousting the heavily favoured Netherlands by means of a 2-0 Last-16 victory.
When all was said and done in Baku on Saturday evening, though, the Danes proved a bridge too far for Jaroslav Šilhavý’s spirited outfit.
First-half strikes from Thomas Delaney and Kasper Dolberg eventually proved telling, in guiding Denmark to a hard-fought win, and, in turn, a Euro 2020 semi-final berth.
Joakim Maehle, that is outrageous! 😱

CR7 out in front
Whilst his country ultimately saw their Euros dream brought to an end this evening, though, one of the Czech Republic’s stars did manage to make things interesting early in the 2nd-half of action in Baku.
The man in question? Patrik Schick.
Hitman Schick has of course enjoyed a fine tournament to date, en route to four goals in his first four appearances.
And, versus Denmark, the Bayer Leverkusen star was back at it again, slotting home a pinpoint right-footed volley from the penalty spot with 49 minutes on the clock:

Schick’s latest strike, in turn, guided the 25-year-old onto five goals for the tournament, the joint-most of any player, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
This quickly led to questions surrounding the possibility of this summer’s Golden Boot being shared, albeit with the chance of course still existing that another (Raheem Sterling?) could better the tally managed by both Schick and Ronaldo.
As outlined above, though, if things remain as they are in the goalscorer standings, Cristiano Ronaldo, and he alone, will in fact take home the Golden Boot prize.
This comes with ties decided first by assists, and then by minutes played.
And the Juventus star, unlike Schick, has managed a solitary assist this summer, during Portugal’s 4-2 group stage defeat to Germany. CR7 also managed his goals tally in fewer minutes than the Czech Republic’s main man, meaning he, as things stand, sits clear of the competition in the race for the Golden Boot.
