Report suggests West Ham have made a move for 25-yr-old South American – originally posted on Sportslens.com
West Ham United have reportedly made a move to sign the Argentine forward Giovanni Simeone.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the attacker’s future at Cagliari is in doubt and the likes of Torino, Sampdoria, Bologna, Marseille and West Ham are all keen on signing him.
The report further states that the Hammers have made a concrete move for the player but there is no mention of an official bid.
There is no doubt that David Moyes will have to improve his attacking options this summer and Simeone might prove to be a decent addition for the London club.
The Premier League side are in need of a natural goal scorer but the Argentine is more of a creative forward. The 25-year-old scored just six goals in the Italian league last season and he picked up two assists along the way.
The Premier League side should look to move for a more proven finisher and it will be interesting to see who they end up signing eventually.
That said, Simeone is already an international with Argentina and he has a lot of room for improvement. The 25-year-old could develop into a quality forward for the Hammers with time.
However, West Ham are in need of someone who can transform their attack immediately. The Londoners will play Europa League football next year and they will need a significant injection of quality in the transfer market this summer.
