Spurs move for new manager
According to generally reliable Italian reporter Di Marzio, Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with ex-Roma boss Paulo Fonseca regarding their vacant managerial position.
The North London outfit have been without a permanent manager since mid-April, when they parted ways with Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho just days before their Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
Ex-Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason had been in caretaker charge since, and guided Spurs to a UEFA Conference League place through a final day victory over Leicester
Tottenham are discussing with Paulo Fonseca on a three-years contract. Fonseca is 100% open to accept Tottenham job, if Spurs will definitely decide to appoint him in the next hours. ⚪️

Fonseca an odd second choice
Antonio Conte was undeniably Daniel Levy’s first choice as the new Tottenham manager.
Although they were apparently close to his signature, they could not come to a complete agreement, meaning that talks between the two parties failed.
Tottenham have called off plans to appoint Antonio Conte as their new head coach following a breakdown in talks.

And now it appears as if they have switched their focus to Fonseca, if reports are to be believd. It seems like an odd move for Tottenham Hotspur following their previous season.
Mourinho, discarded by the lilywhites in April, was appointed Roma boss at the beginning of May.

In a cruel twist of fate, it was Fonseca who Mourinho replaced, having left the club just days earlier following a series of underwhelming results that saw Roma slip out of any European spots.
Ironically, Fonseca will now take Mourinho’s vacant spot, with both managers hoping to fare better at their new clubs than they did at their previous ones.
