Newcastle set to return for 22-year-old January target this summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Newcastle United are interested in signing the Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes during the summer transfer window.
According to reports, the Magpies were keen on signing the midfielder during the January transfer window as well but the move did not materialise back then. Portuguese outlet Record claims that the Premier League side submitted an offer of a loan deal with an option to buy.
The Premier League side are now looking to reignite their interest in the 22-year-old midfielder and it will be interesting to see if they can succeed in securing his signature this time around.
Apparently, the Portuguese outfit will demand at least €20 million for the player.
The Brazilian is quite highly rated across Europe and the reported asking price could prove to be a bargain if he manages to adapt to Premier League football next season.
Furthermore, he has a contract with this Portuguese outfit until the summer of 2025 and the asking price seems quite reasonable given the fact that Sporting are under no pressure to sell him right now.
The 22-year-old central midfielder can operate in an advanced role as well and he will add goals and assists to the Newcastle midfield.
The Brazilian has three goals and three assists to his name in all competitions and he is likely to get better with experience and coaching.
The Magpies have been linked with another goalscoring midfielder in Joe Willock and it will be interesting to see if they are willing to sign both players this summer.
