Crystal Palace are set to appoint former Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre as their new manager, according to The Athletic.
The managerial hotseat has been vacant at the London club since Roy Hodgson announced he would be leaving after three and a half years in charge.
After nearly four years of managing his boyhood club, Roy Hodgson will be stepping down as our manager at the end of this season.
Thank you for everything, Roy ❤️💙

Since his departure, Palace have been linked with the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo and Frank Lampard, but neither have been appointed.
And now, it appears as though the club have managed to tempt a higher calibre manager into the rule, with Lucien Favre agreeing to join the Londoners pending a work permit.

Favre has a great deal of managerial experience at the top level, something that cannot be said for Santo or Lampard. The Swiss manager has managed Bundesliga sides Borussia Monchengladbach, Hertha Berlin and Borussia Dortmund, as well as having a strong spell with Ligue 1 side Nice.
🇨🇭 Lucien Favre – In more detail.
– A very BVB style manager (high press etc)
– Similar to Klopp/Tuchel in that way
– Very tactical
– pushes his players alot. Once said: “My players have to be ready to suffer in training,”
– Succeeded with Ballotelli when most couldnt. pic.twitter.com/2vnxnURcCh— Drizzy. (@DrizzyCPFC) June 17, 2021
Crystal Palace will be ecstatic to have managed to entice such a high-profile manager to Selhurst Park, and the manager will have something of a blank canvass to work with after the club released a host of first team players this summer.
Crystal Palace have released the following first team players:
• Gary Cahill
• Scott Dann
• Wayne Hennessy
• James McCarthy
• Mamadou Sakho
• Andros Townsend
• Patrick Van Aanholt
• Joel Ward
• Conor WickhamBest of Luck! ❤️💙 pic.twitter.com/ZYxIRqwwqm

It remains to be seen how well the club will be able to replace these now-free agents, but having Favre at the helm could well help them attract previously unattainable talent.
Safe to say fans are excited.
