Promising forward off the market
Liverpool and Arsenal have been dealt a potential blow in the striker department as one of their targets has penned a new deal in La Liga.
Alexander Isak, of Real Sociedad, was catching the eye of both clubs, and was rumoured to have a 70 million euro release clause in his contract.

Still only 21, the Swedish star had caught the eye at Euro2020, providing two assists en route to the round-of-16 stage, and sparking rumours that clubs were circling to compete for his signature.
However, those rumours have been firmly put to bed today, as the club announced that it had agreed a new deal with the Swede, that will keep him at the club until 2026.
In doing so, they removed the pre-existing release clause. Due to Spanish employment law however, every player in La Liga must have a release clause in their contract. This means that although the clause has been upped, it has not been entirely removed from Isak’s contract.

Buy-Back clause bought out
Another bonus for the Spanish club is that they reached an agreement with Isak’s former club Borussia Dortmund, which allowed them to remove the German club’s 35 million euro buy-back clause from the youngster’s contract.
Given that Isak is already valued at 36 million pounds (42 million euros) by transfermarkt, this comes as a major bonus for Sociedad. In turn, it allows them to profit from any future sale of the youngster, rather than Dortmund activating the clause and then selling Isak to another club for greater profit.

With a new deal in the bag, it seems near-on impossible that Isak, who netted 17 times in 34 La Liga appearances across 2020-21, will be leaving the Spanish club this summer.
