Champions League heartbreak
Leicester City have twice come so close, but ultimately missed out on, Champions League football. Both last season and in 2019-20, they were in contention right up until the final day, but fell short, with a 4-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur ending their most recent opportunity.
On the back of this disappointment, however, the Foxes have been busy in the transfer market in an attempt to ensure that it proves third time lucky for Brendan Rodgers and his side in the League. While FA cup success this season was certainly a huge step forward for the club, the top four of the Premier League will surely be the priority.
To that end, the club have already announced the signing of Zambian forward Patson Daka, and are close to finalising a deal that would see full-back Ryan Bertrand join the midlands outfit on a free transfer.
Ryan Bertrand to Leicester, done deal and here we go! Total agreement reached, signing a contract until June 2023 [one year option included until 2024]. ?? #LCFC
After many approaches/bids, Bertrand will be officially announced as new Leicester player in the next days.

The Foxes also land Soumare
It had been a poorly kept secret that Boubakary Soumare, Lille’s dynamic defensive midfielder, would be joining the Foxes this summer.
We’re delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder @B_Soumare24 from Ligue 1 champions Lille for an undisclosed fee, subject to Premier League and international clearance ??

The Frenchman will provide a valuable rotation option for Brendan Rodgers, able to fill in either for Wilfried Ndidi or Youri Tielemans in Leicester’s system.
With a reported fee of around 17 million pounds, it takes Leicester’s current summer spending to 40 million, although they have arguably covered all of the positions that seemed light last season.
Having previously been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool, it will be fascinating to see how the midfielder fares in the Premier League. If he performs as expected however, Leicester could have their hands on another gem.
