Jose Mourinho claims he has won ‘25 and a half’ trophies

Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham stint came to an end on April 19^th when he was sacked by the club.

The Portuguese had a fairly mixed stint in north London, which included Spurs being knocked out of the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb after going 2-0 up in the first leg.

Perhaps Mourinho’s biggest achievement whilst on Spurs’ books was guiding them to the League Cup final.

Mourinho’s 25 and a half trophies

The Lilywhites had not won a trophy since 2008 when they faced off with Manchester City’s in this year’s final.

Mourinho, however, was not in the dugout as he was sacked a week prior, with Ryan Mason instead taking charge.

Granted, Mourinho was not having the best stint with Tottenham, but you would have assumed he would have stood a better chance of beating Pep Guardiola’s City than Mason.

Regardless, Mourinho has now found another job in the Serie A with AS Roma.

And now, the Portuguese has been reflecting on his Tottenham stint. When doing so, Mourinho claimed that he has won 25 and a half trophies in his career, with the half the League Cup final he did not get to play with Spurs:

“So if you want me to be proactive now you can ask me, ‘how many trophies have you won in your career?’ I’ll tell you 25 and a half. The half is the final that I didn’t play with Tottenham.

“You ask the guys who played lots of finals and everybody will tell you, ‘to play a final is a dream’ and it doesn’t matter if it is the first final or number 20 or number 50, a final is always a dream.

“A Wembley final is more than a dream, I played the first on the new Wembley and every time I go there, it’s more than a dream and to have a chance to win a trophy with a club that doesn’t have many of course was a double dream.

“I am the kind of guy that when I close the door of a club, I move and I just wish good to people, but in a funny way I would say I have 25 and a half titles because it’s something that marks my career which is not to play a final that I won the right to go there.”
