An insight into why Callum Hudson-Odoi has not featured too regularly for Chelsea of late has been provided on Tuesday.

Callum Hudson-Odoi under Thomas Tuchel
When Thomas Tuchel first took the reins at Chelsea, Callum Hudson-Odoi was a regular feature under the German.
Tuchel opted to switch to a back-five formation, which saw Cesar Azpilicueta moved to the right centre-back spot.
This, many likely assumed, would then have seen Reece James moved into the right wing-back role alongside the Spaniard.
However, somewhat surprisingly, Tuchel actually opted to utilise Hudson-Odoi at RWB.
The gifted youngster featured in all of Tuchel’s first seven Premier League games in charge, against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, and in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
Tuchel & Hudson-Odoi have good relationship
The last few months, though, have seen the 20-year-old’s game time dramatically reduced.
In the league, Hudson-Odoi has managed only 37 minutes of action across Chelsea’s last four outings.
Tuchel also benched the Englishman in the FA Cup semi-final vs Manchester City, and in all of the Blues’ last four Champions League fixtures.
So, given his dramatic drop-off in game time, some of Chelsea’s fans inevitably questioned whether CHO had fallen out with Tuchel.
However, The Athletic have since moved to clarify the situation, assuring that nothing bad of note has taken place between the pair, who are said to maintain a good relationship.
It is added that Hudson-Odoi enjoys Tuchel’s training methods, whilst the Chelsea boss is said to value CHO highly.
Hudson-Odoi’s drop-off in minutes is instead attributed to his inexperience in the wing-back role, with Tuchel having opted for Azpilicueta and James in more high-profile outings.
The report also highlights the level of competition in the Londoners’ attack as central to the 20-year-old not featuring more frequently up top.
At the last international break, Hudson-Odoi had made more apps for #CFC under Tuchel than Mason Mount & stood 8th in the amount of minutes at the club. Over the last 11 matches, only 3 squad members have played less. Why the downturn? I look into it here: https://t.co/Me8j67KDLe
