Fantasy Football Euro 2020
The game which can make you become a hero amongst your friends or the laughing stock of the group chat. Fantasy Football has taken over the minds of many a football fan over the years and the European Championships is about to spice up the genre further.
Delayed from the 2020 start date to 2021, the cross-country tournament is set to see a 7 matchday competition from 3 group stage rounds and 4 knockout stages make for a fast-paced, high risk and high reward few weeks of Fantasy.
However, should you see yourself as a bit of a legend at the game of FF, you will want to be aware that in comparison to the official Premier League iteration of the game, Euro Fantasy has got some interesting innovations which could catch you out should you not be aware.
Furthermore, this is international football. No more Manchester City trebles or the fear of throwing a Leeds United defender in, you need to swat up on your nations.
To help with all the changes and to give some tips to help both veteran and amateur players, 101 spoke to Fantasy Football expert Tom AKA Who Got The Assist?
Rule changes
Beginning with the rule changes, some of the key differences come from how points are scored in the game. Tom explains how scoring has changed from winning a penalty to scoring a long-range goal.

Captain and sub picks
Not only are the scoring rules changing but the captain selection is also changing.
Tom explains that you can change your captain each day within a given ‘matchday.’ To clarify a ‘matchday’ defines the series of days of a single round of matches.

Your captain pick needs to be spot on, as do your manual substitutions. The choices of your subs are going to be key. No more choosing the cheapest players to have an expensive starting eleven because your subs will be a valuable asset to change from day to day should your starters not perform.
Fantasy tips
Now the juicy stuff, what you need to know to give you the edge over your friends during each matchday as you make your initial selection.
Tom runs down how looking at the way some players score there goals could be the difference between picking up a couple of extra points, ensuring you do not fail to utilise the bonuses.
The temptation to use the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo may also be ones to steer clear of when you consider their group game opponents says Tom.
