Harrowing scenes
The situation of Danish midfielder Eriksen has of course proven the one major negative of an otherwise superb Euro 2020 tournament thus far.
For those not aware, last weekend, in his country’s opening fixture of the competition, Eriksen suddenly collapsed to the turf, after attempting to control the ball.
Medics in attendance at the clash quickly flooded to the pitch, as it became increasingly clear that the incident was of a deeply serious nature.
In turn, following the use of a defibrillator, and a tense, nervy wait for all involved, Eriksen was stretchered from the field of play, to rapturous applause from the Parken Stadium crowd.
It was subsequently revealed that the Inter Milan star had been stablilised in hospital, after suffering a cardiac arrest.
“He was gone. We got him back after one defib.”

Eriksen latest
Messages of support, in turn, subsequently flooded in for Denmark’s star man, as the football world came together to put rivalries aside, in a showing of true solidarity.
And, as outlined above, on Friday, yet more positive news regarding Eriksen’s wellbeing has been forthcoming.
As revealed in an official statement on the part of the DBU, the 29-year-old has been discharged from hospital. Eriksen underwent a successful surgery, during which he was fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, before meeting up with his international teammates in Helsingor.
The midfielder will now return home to spend some much needed time with his family.
