Everton’s Demiral links dismissed
It has been previously touted that Everton were in the hunt for Juventus’ Turkish defender Merih Demiral.
Calcio Mercato reporter Daniele Longo had claimed that an offer was even being made for the 23-year-old.

However, reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on the previous claims regarding Demiral but provided hope in the form of a new target. There was also an update regarding Norwich City’s Max Aarons.
‘Everton are planning to sign a centre-back in the summer. Araujo is highly appreciated but Barcelona will *not* sell him. No talks for Demiral, he’s not even a target. Max Aarons update: new clubs are joining the race. Everton are now looking for other players,’ wrote Romano.

Ronald Araujo the new target
Donald Araujo has been with Barcelona since he arrived in 2018 from Uruguayan club Boston River.
He has gone on to play 26 league games for the Blaugrana which the majority of have come this season under Ronald Koeman. Often deputising for the injured Gerard Pique.
He himself has faced injury problems which for a time meant midfielder Frenkie de Jong was drafted in to play in defence.
Should Everton tempt a Barcelona who supposedly ‘will not sell him’ then the fee will need to be significant.
The stance from Barca is unsurprising but with Eric Garcia likely to arrive this summer, there could be a want from Araujo to be guaranteed more game time.
Carlo Ancelotti has shown he can convince players of the ilk of James Rodriguez to leave giant sides for the northwest.
However, should Barca stand firm, without Champions League football, Everton may need to admit defeat in their chase.
