Buendia on the move this summer
Emi Buendia has had quite the season in the Championship. The 24-year-old Argentine provided 15 goals and 17 assists in his 39 appearances for Norwich, playing a huge role in their title-winning season.
Rumours are circulating that Villa are preparing to make an offer for Emi Buendia for a fee of around £40 million?

His success has led to rekindled interest from Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Aston Villa, with Norwich expected to accept a fee north of £40 million. Such a deal would make him their biggest ever sale, but it seems clear that Buendia has his sights set on pastures new.

Interview giving hints to next move?
This fact was made apparent during an interview with Spanish publication AS. Speaking ahead off heading to join up with his compatriots on international duty with Argentina for the Copa America, Buendia spoke of his career aspirations, saying that:
“One dreams of playing for titles, it is an ambition that I have, it is a pride that important clubs are interested in you, it means that you are doing things well and it is a motivation to continue working and one day achieve it.
“Since I was a child, I was passionate about soccer and you grow up with players you watch. Not only in the position that I would like to play, as I still do today.
In a major boost for Arsenal, it seems Norwich accept that it’s time for Buendia to move on to bigger things and they won’t prevent him from leaving Carrow Road as long as they get around £40m for him.

“I look a lot in England on Kevin De Bruyne or Bruno Fernandes, who are decisive in their teams and among the best in the world, there is no maximum age to continue learning from the best.”
Interestingly, Buendia was also asked about what he felt his position was, and had this to say:
My position was always ’10’, hook, between the middle and the forward, I was always a passer, but in a professional way I played more outside and always with the freedom to be able to associate. But where I feel most comfortable is in the middle, where I can touch the ball more and associate with my teammates.”

Both the desire to play at the top level and the ability to play at the no.10 role will give Arsenal significant encouragement in landing their man if they are unable to convince Real Madrid to part with Martin Odegaard this summer.
The 24-year-old’s aim to be playing for trophies (titles) ties in well with Mikel Arteta’s ultimate goals, although the Spaniard will have to sell a great pitch to convince Buendia that the Gunners will be in a position to do so any time soon. What is clear though, is that Buendia will be a hit wherever he ends up, with plenty of time to still grow into a world-class player.
