Arsenal’s bid rejected
Arsenal have had a 15 million rejected for Anderlecht midfielder Sambi Lokonga.
The 21-year old was called up by Roberto Martinez to Belgium’s preliminary squad and remains in the 11 reserves on standby for a call up.
Lokonga had been previously linked with a move to Arsenal but no formal offer had been made until now.
Belgian outlet HLN reporters Kristof Terreur and PJ Calcoen said the opening offer had been rejected by Arsenal and that the club were looking for a fee in the region of €20 million.

With Granit Xhaka likely to leave for Roma and Dani Ceballos having already returned to Real Madrid, Mikel Arteta is on the lookout to strengthen his midfield.
101 understands that Arsenal are not deterred by the bid’s rejection and that talks are expected to continue to agree upon a fee.
Arsenal are aware that a deal for Xhaka would cover the majority, if not all, of the fee associated with the Lokonga deal.
AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are also following the player.
Who is Sambi Lokonga?
PJ Calcoen who broke the story with Terreur spoke with The Gooner Talk previously about the midfielder who has already earned a call-up to the national side.
“He is the captain of Anderlecht already. He is a leader in the dressing room, he’s not a guy of motivational speeches but he is leading by example,” says Colcoen.
“Sambi is a guy who is always taking responsibility.
“Sambi Lokonga is very self conscious, he knows he is good and to be honest he is. He is one of the key players at Anderlecht.
“Mostly his passing skills are impressive, very reliable. It gets him the possibility to build up from behind which is really important at Anderlecht where he plays as a defensive midfielder. He could play as a number 8 as well because of his technical skills.
“Sambi has a lot of talent otherwise he would not be preparing for the Euros at the moment with Belgium’s golden generation.
He is training with Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne, Dries Mertens, Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard so he is talented. He is one of Belgium’s most talented players but still he has some points where he could improve.
“For example his defensive work could improve. He could become a little more powerful and his presence in the air could be better as well. But he is still young and he cans till improve so that is not a problem.”

Arsenal could be expected to return with another bid very soon.
