Following a poor season with Manchester United, Arsenal are said to be showing interest in Donny van de Beek.

Van de Beek’s poor Man United stint
Van de Beek would sign for Man United in the delayed summer window, setting the Red Devils back around £35m.
Van de Beek had spent the last several years impressing with Ajax, and at £35m, looked a fairly decent buy for Man United.
However, despite him being signed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s watch, the Norwegian refused to hand the 24-year-old any sort of regular football throughout 2020/21.
The Dutchman would make 19 Premier League appearances, but just three of those saw VDB complete 90 minutes – and even two of those 90-minutes outings came right at the end of the campaign when United had nothing left to play for.
Arsenal interested in Van de Beek
So, with the summer window now open it is not surprising to see Van de Beek’s future at Old Trafford called into question, despite him still having four years left to run on his contract.
The club linked with the former Ajax man is Arsenal.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has already stated that he wished someone like Arsenal could have taken Van de Beek:
“Donny van de Beek, he’s someone that I wish someone more like Arsenal could have taken. When you look at [Paul] Pogba, what he’s doing, and you look at Bruno Fernandes – that is Donny van de Beek’s position.
“So people are thinking they’re going to see Van de Beek [sitting] with Pogba and Fernandes, but I don’t think that’s going to happen, because as much as he can play there, that’s not his preferred position to play.
“Listen, Donny van de Beek will be a good player for Man United in time because he’s a quality player.
“But is he what they need right now?”
And now, Wright may get his wish, with 90min reporting that Arsenal have made contact with United over the future of the midfielder. They add that the Gunners have requested Man United keep them updated on his situation at the club.
