Third surgery revealed for Fati
Injured back in November of last year, Ansu Fati has been on a long journey of recovery which was expected initially to be only a few months in total.
However the Spanish international had to undergo a second surgery early in 2020 due to a lack of improvement in the 18-year old’s condition.
It was hoped that he could maybe recover in time to play some minutes before the end of the campaign but it has been revealed that Fati had to go under the knife for a third time at the end of March in secret.
This means that he is unlikely to play any football this season or at the European Championships to the annoyance of Ronald Koeman and Luis Enrique.
The target now is said to be getting ready for pre-season and the hope will grow that he will have to undergo no more surgeries.
Gracia sacked after Barca loss
The hunt for the La Liga title is a pretty spectacular affair this season with just six points separating the top 4 teams.
Sevilla have the opportunity to close the gap to 1st to just 3 points should they successfully overcome Athletic Club.
Barcelona could have topped the pile in midweek but a loss to Granada in Catalonia dented their title hopes significantly.
The Blaugrana got things back on track with a 3-2 win away at Valencia thanks to a Lionel Messi brace and an Antoine Griezmann effort after former Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista gave the Mestella side a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute.
Valencia confirmed today that they have parted ways with coach Javi Gracia after the defeat left them 14th just 6 points above the drop.
‘The club wants to publicly thank [Gracia] for his work and dedication during these months leading the team and wishes him the best of success for the future,’ read a statement from the La Liga side.
With games against Real Valladolid, Eibar and Huesca, all below them, remaining things could get worryingly dangerous for the club.
