A fresh update on Manchester United’s reported pursuit of Raphael Varane has emerged on Sunday.

Varane’s Madrid future
Raphael Varane joined Real Madrid in 2011, departing French outfit Lens for a fee believed to be around £9m.
Varane was only 18 years of age when he made the move to the Bernabeu, so £9m, at the time, looked a fairly considerable sum.
However, he has since gone on to establish himself as a key cog in Madrid’s backline.
All told, the Frenchman has notched 360 appearances across all competitions for Real, playing a pivotal role in their recent domestic and Champions League success.
However, Varane’s future in the Spanish capital now appears to be up in the air.
This comes with the stopper having just one year to run on his contract, and reports earlier this year having suggested that Los Blancos are not expecting their defensive star to renew his deal.
Varane’s agent ready to speak with Man United
Manchester United have been one of the sides most heavily linked with the 28-year-old.
However, reports earlier this week suggested that United’s pursuit of Varane had been complicated by Sergio Ramos’s departure from Real Madrid.
Now though, a fresh update on United’s pursuit of the Frenchman suggests that a transfer to Old Trafford this summer could be a possibility.
According to the Mirror, Varane’s agent hopes to meet with Man United this week to try and thrash out a move.
It is added that Varane has rejected a two-year extension from Los Blancos, opening the door to a move to England with the Red Devils remaining the main candidates to land the stopper. PSG are also believed to have enquired about Varane but he prefers a move to England.
In terms of a fee for Varane, it is claimed Madrid would demand around £50m.
